Inspired by a photo I found of my uncle and two of his mates looking particularly dapper on a hot day in the countryside.
Film maker Dan Guthrie has released his latest short – Three Young Men on a Bench – “an experimental short film about black masculinity and rural upbringings.”
Dan grew up in Stroud – “Both me and my mother’s family grew up in Stroud, a large town nestled in the heart of Gloucestershire with a 97.2% white population.” Dan – a writer and multidisciplinary artist – says he was inspired to make the film “by a photo I found of my uncle and two of his mates looking particularly dapper on a hot day in the countryside”.
Here he talks to www.mandemhood.com about the inspiration for his film.
